I thought I was going to be deported from Singapore. The Changi immigration officer told me to put both my thumbs on the scanner and then she told me to remove my face mask. I’m like how am I suppose to remove my face mask while my thumbs are being scanned? How ah?
She looked at me irritably because I haven’t removed my mask. I thought alamak that she was not going to let me in and send me back to KL. Quick thinking me then just took my thumbs off the scanner without waiting to see if I’m allowed to do so and then used my now free hands to remove my mask. I did the right thing phewww. She was no longer irritated with this Malaysian trying to get into Singapore and she smiled and let me in. Nasib baik.
I thought it was a really funny incident because she obviously didn’t realise how her simple instructions was not clear enough and didn’t make sense to me.
And I wonder how many times that my own team have suffered from my unclear instructions. Sometimes my brain runs too fast (usually after coffee) and my mouth couldn’t keep up with the thought process. To my team, I apologize and I promise I will be better. Just tell me la if I am talking rubbish nonsense again.
