One tool that we have is the Hofstede Insights Country Comparison Tool shared by Alleena Abdullah during our webinar last night.
It is a great tool to give us an understanding of the societal structure of a particular country which can help us understand the citizens better.
When you read the report, it says that Malaysia scores 100 in the Power Distance in the Hofstede Insights Country Comparison Tool
What it means is that people accept a hierarchical order which needs no further justification. Hierarchy in an organisation is seen as reflecting inherent inequalities, centralization is popular, subordinates expect to be told what to do and the ideal boss is a benevolent autocrat.
We were discussing this as part of the topic of ‘How To Improve Your Social Intelligence’. It is a very important topic these days because kita sekarang ni more globalised and we interact with many people from different countries and background.
I also shared that when I moved to Germany and the US, I read books about their history. It gives me a better understanding of where the country came from, how it was founded, the ups and downs of the country and with that some understanding of their mentality and behaviours.
So therefore if you are now working for an MNC from abroad or have big number of customers from a particular country and you want to have a more better understanding of your colleagues or customers then
