Sangeeta Jethwa and I worked together in a small hospital in Wales. I was a medical senior house officer (SHO) and she was an anaesthetic SHO. She later left and joined a pharmaceutical company in London.
When I was thinking about leaving clinical medicine, I asked her about what is the life like on the other side, the dark side. Convinced by her story that it is not so dark after all, I managed to get my first job in the pharmaceutical industry with IVAX Pharmaceuticals and for that I will always be grateful to them for hiring me a fresh newbie to the industry. Sangeeta is now a very high power Medical Director in Switzerland and I am here enjoying life back in Malaysia. We managed to meet up for dinner in Zurich when I was there for holiday in September.
When you are thinking about a new career, it is more better if you know someone who is already in that industry to give you some advice, give you a clearer picture of what they do for their work.
