When I’m not around anymore, please look after yourself.
That was the last thing my beautiful mother said to me the night before she passed away. Even as her body was giving up, she was more concern about me rather than herself.
My mother was a very generous and compassionate person. She would always give money to anyone asking for money that she sees in restaurant, pasar malam or the mosques. Tak boleh nampak mesti nak bagi duit.
She would even bring strangers back home from the mosques sometimes to let them shower and cook them food. We were worried that people would take advantage of her but somehow she would always be alright.
She would also be making donations here and there, and I really dunno how many mosques and schools that she has helped to build or upgrade. Memang banyak betul. I do know that she has a connection to a community in Cambodia and I am sure that they are grateful for all the contributions that she has made over the years.
People say that we learn our values from our parents and surroundings. I definitely picked up the strong empathy trait from my beautiful mother.
As 2022 ends today, if my beautiful mother is reading this, I want to let her know that her Boy pandai jaga diri and is doing fine.
