The higher performing team was unexpectedly the one making the more mistakes!
That was the surprising finding from Amy Edmondson’s research into psychological safety.
When she dug deeper, she found out that the psychological safety in the high-performing team allowed them to be more open and willing to share and discuss mistakes that had happened. Therefore they were able to find solutions to prevent the same mistakes from happening in the future.
Whereas in the lower-performing team, it was the opposite. They didn’t have the psychological safety so diaorang tak berani nak share their mistakes openly with their team giving a false impression that everything was good.
It’s a brilliant TED talk.
I recommend that you take some time to watch it and think about the psychological safety at your work place.
