Tak semua Malaysians understand stories or references from England or America.
I learned this when I moved back to Malaysia.
The clue is the blank look on their faces when I mentioned things that are too English or too American like TV programmes or celebrities.
For example, there is no point talking about famous TV presenters in England like Dermot O’Leary or Ant & Dec, because Malaysians have no idea who they are.
There is no point talking about the famous holiday places in America like Miami or San Francisco because most Malaysians have never been there. Pernah tengok dalam TV je.
So when you are embellishing your presentation with stories and anecdotes, it’s more better to choose something that is relevant to the audience.
Use local elements.
Use Malaysia.
