I met one of my best friends in a salsa class in Bristol. Zaman muda dulu. Later on, she told me that she felt very safe dancing with me. Not sure what that meant but I took that as a compliment.
I met one of my other best friends on a train to work in Germany. We took the same train almost every day but we only got talking when one day the train broke down and I had to ask her what was happening because the announcements were all in German.
Moving to another country can be quite challenging. You are leaving your family and friends behind and have to start from scratch again. You have to make new friends.
So you have to make the effort to meet new people. Kena keluar jumpa orang. Joining a club according to your interest is a great way to start. Could be a ballroom dancing class, a CrossFit class or a painting class. You will definitely meet people with some similarity to you.
There are usually also Malaysian groups abroad that you can join. Good for networking and also to get free nasi lemak from time to time.
So for those yang murah rezeki dapat move abroad, jangan malu-malu ya. Make the effort and go out to meet people. Don’t la asyik FaceTime back home je.
