Let me clarify that.
The safer the team feels with each other, the more mistakes they will admit to making.
That was the thought provoking conclusion from Amy Edmonson’s TED talk.
And it makes sense. If there is no trust within a team, if there is no psychological safety then they are more likely not going to be open when they make mistakes.
They will hide it. Tak nak bagi tau orang.
So therefore building trust and creating a safe space should be your no 1 priority when managing a team.
Some of the things that you can do:
– Show you commitment to their personal development
– Share some of your weaknesses and failures
– Encourage speaking up without negative consequences
I watched many TED talks and this one was a big eye opener for me.
