When I was deciding what to specialize in during my hospital time I knew that I didn’t like paediatrics. I love kids but not the parents of the sick kids. Susah nak handle.
I didn’t like surgery either. Cutting up people and all those blood were not for me. Too gross.
I didn’t like psychiatry because I had a couple of unpleasant experience as a medical student dealing with psychiatric patients. Takut sikit.
So I chose nephrology because the kidney’s physiology is logical, patients are younger and there is hope for full recovery with transplantation.
When choosing your career, make sure you know what you like and what you don’t like.
