Challenge Yourself

I have low confidence. Saya tak konfiden.

That is quite a common problem that I hear from other people.

So I would say to them ‘Be More Confident”.

But it’s not very helpful because they don’t know how to be more confident.
And I feel bad (and a bit stupid) that I don’t have any tips or tricks on how to be more confident.

So I did some research.

I read some websites first, watch some Youtubes and then came across this book ‘How To Be Confident’ by James Smith.

Turns out no one really has THE answer on how to be more confident.

Essentially it is about understanding the reason why you are not confident.

What is the fear that is holding you back?

And then taking steps to overcome that fear.

And it makes sense because if I look back in my life, I have done a few things that has given me the belief that I can do things when I focus on them.

I have joined salsa class before, I have taken Spanish lessons, I have done cliff-diving, I have done speed dating, I went to rural Tanzania on my own during university, I learned how to swim, how to snowboard, how to surf, I joined CrossFit class, I learned how to ride big motorbike, I did virtual training session, I climbed Kinabalu, I went on a hot air balloon ride and many other things that pushed me beyond my comfort zone.

I am not born with a huge amount of confidence but I realised with each winning moment, my confidence grew.

So after reading the book, my conclusion is only you can help yourself with your confidence problem.

Only you can challenge yourself to be more confident.

Only you.

If you don’t do something about it, then you will be just as you are now.
