I resigned from being a Specialist Registrar in Renal Medicine to start afresh in a pharmaceutical company. My friends and colleagues told me not to do it and tunggu dulu until I finished my specialist training and become a consultant. But I really cannot tahan anymore so I just did it.
When I dapat the job with Boehringer Ingelheim in Germany some people also didn’t think it was a good idea. Maybe because they were watching Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds and thought Germany was still stuck in the wartime era. It’s true that I didn’t know anyone, takde kawan in Germany and cannot speak German apart from achtung, and still I just did it anyway and migrated to Deutschland.
Changing jobs is memang stressful. It’s one of the top 3 most stressful life events. The other two are getting married and moving house. So jangan gatal to do all 3 at the same time haha! You will go crazy. However when you are already thinking about changing jobs then just do it. Stop overthinking it, stop analyzing the pros and cons. Just do it.
If I didn’t resign from my renal medicine training, I wouldn’t have been in the pharmaceutical industry. If I didn’t move to Germany, I would not have had an amazing 11 years working with Boehringer Ingelheim travelling to all corners of the world with the job.
Be courageous. Just do it.
