Are you suitable to be a manager? Not everyone is suitable to be a manager.
And you don’t have to be a manager to be successful.
You can also be successful as an individual contributor. You can be an expert with specialist knowledge in a particular area.
Somehow we think that we have to be a manager to be successful.
But being a manager is not easy. It requires a lot of people skill
So when I see my team yang not so good with the people skill, I would ask them
“Are you sure you want to be a manager?”
If they say yes, then we will work on the people skill
If they say no, then we work on career progression as an individual contributor.
